K–8 (and then some) Auction Album using Power Palettes

I donated an album for our school’s auction that will be on May 5th.  I wanted it to be simple enough that a non scrapper could look at it and think “Hey, I can do that!”  but nice enough that scrapbookers would want it, too!

I used mostly the Cheerful Power Palette and the retired Primary Power Palette.  These all worked so well together!  Titles and the custom elements were cut on my Silhouette.  I matted each sticker, title & other elements in black  cardstock throughout the album so that it would give the album a unified look.

The album is designed to showcase pictures from a child’s years at St. Michael’s school (K – 8) but they can be rearranged if needed and adapted for other years & schools.

Title Page – designed in Make the Cut and cut with my Silhouettedscn2330

For each grade I did a page with the year’s title and another layout left mostly empty so a class photo, larger school picture, report card or other item could be displayed.  I also included a set of Storybox Photo Mats & Journal Boxes in the auction so that they could add more photos if they want.  Photo Mats are pieces of pre-cut paper that are just a tad bigger than a 4x6 photo so they make matting photos a breeze! I also donated  a new Tape Runner, Dual Tip Black Pen, ABC Stickers and an hour of my time to help the winner of the auction get started.

Most of the stickers and elements I adhered with Foam Squares to make them pop off the page a bit.

Besides pages for each grade I did some for holidays – hoping that pictures of class parties and other fun holiday happenings can have a home.  I also did pages for Holy Communion, Confirmation & one that can be used for anything school related or sports.

You can view the whole album below (except for one of the Christmas pages I forgot to take a photo of).

I hope it raises a bunch of money for the school!  If you’re local, stop by the auction – they are going to have lots of wonderful things to bid on!

May 5th at St. Michael’s School in Livonia, MI – let me know if you’d like more info!

New CM Cricut Traveler Cartridge!!

I (finally) got a chance to work with this newest cartridge from Creative Memories and Cricut.  It has  2 fantastic fonts, lots of images that cut and layer easily.  This cartridge is perfect to use with travel, water, vacation, tropical/island themed stuff and also has generic tags and phrases you’ll be able to use on most pages.

Here are a few pages I put together using the new Traveler cartridge:

This page uses the following supplies:

Background paper and “Escape” clear sticker :  Cheerful Tropical Additions (available July 1st)

CM Cardstock:  Red, Cloud, Yellow and Carrot

Cricut Cuts from the Traveler cartridge:  Relax and Unwind “Bonnet Creek” = Road Trip font,  Sun4

Background paper, green leaf print paper used for the turtle, clear “ahhh…” sticker:  Cheerful Tropical Additions

Creative Memories Cardstock:  Green, Cloud, Royal Blue, Yellow,  Black & White

Creative Memories Traveler Cricut Cartridge used to cut the following:   Sea Turtle, H20, Water, Wave

I also use a few more new products to create the layouts below:

All items are from the  Basketball Additions Kit (available July 1st) except for the title (Royal Blue and Yellow CM Cardstock,) Ruled Paper, Foam Squares and brown Dual Tip Pen around the edges of the journal box and stickers.dscn0596

Everything except for the tag (made using the Tag Maker – all makers on sale in July!) and the CM Cardstock matting the photos is from the Cheerful Summer Additions kit

(thinking of adding a bit of journaling in that empty space in the middle)

More to come!  I have a page using the travel/explore images from the Traveler Cricut cartridge in the works.

Plastic Drinking Cup Mini – Lights

I got this great idea from Jo K. – thanks, Jo, for sharing!
It’s a set of cute little mini-lights that use Solo plastic cups (3 oz. size) as shades.  Once I gathered all the materials these took only about a half hour to make.

The light strand is a set of 10 – I found it in the Dollar Spot at Target – they came with either pumpkin or skull plastic covers and were $2.50.   I also got the Solo 3 oz. plastic cups at Target – they have colored ones.  You can see a bit of the green cups peeking out – they coordinate with the Cheerful Halloween Additions I used.

To make these first cut a plastic cup open and remove the top piece and bottom ridge.  Use the middle of the cup as a template for your covers and trace around it on paper.  Cut out the covers and stick them on the cups.  I used the Creative Memories Photo Tape to adhere the edges of the paper to the cup – don’t use the CM Tape Runner for this project – it shows through the paper when the lights are on.
I used the Cheerful Halloween Additions which has 8 pieces of 4x6ish Storybox paper –each one big enough to cover one cup.   I had 10 lights to cover and  I didn’t want to cut into the 4 pieces of 12x12 paper that came with the kit so I used a few of the coordinating Storybox papers from the Cheerful Power Palette.  The colors coordinate perfectly!  I punched a few halloween shapes from the CM Halloween Micro-Maker and glued them to the inside of a few of the cups.  This is what those look like when lit:

I’ll be up at the Novi Sheraton this weekend at Camp Crop-A-Lot – stop up & say “Hi” if you’re in the area!!
