Cap & Gown Collection by Creative Memories

Creative Memories Cap N Gown Collection
It’s Monday and that means
Creative Life Scrapbooking is sharing ideas featuring the CM Border Maker.  Today I shared an idea for graduation cards that can easily be adapted for your graduation themed layouts!  I’m sharing a little extra information about the tools I used to create the cards in this blog post.
Creative Memories Cap N Gown CollectionThe Cap & Gown patterned paper was perfect for these cards but often when placing items (photos, stickers, etc.) directly on top of patterned paper they get lost and are hard to see. To help the embellishments stand out a bit, I matted them with solid colored cardstock and cut them out with my Brother ScanNCut.  (See the bottom of this blog post for more info about this wonderful machine).  You could also freehand this cut using your All Purpose Scissors.
Creative Memories Cap N Gown Collection
I also used the CM Border Maker System & the Zig Zag Cartridge to make a more neutral background. The Cap & Gown collection by CM features artwork in neutral tones so it was easy to personalize the cards by using cardstock that matched the school colors. I created elements using images found online, which I printed with my home printer and also cut out with my ScanNCut.  You can also use your Custom Cutting System and Circle Patterns to cut around similar images.
Creative Memories Cap N Gown Collection

On this card, I used Black Licorice Fusion Ink by Fun Stampers Journey to edge around the patterned paper, helping to define it just a bit.  This is a tip I learned from Kiwi Lane
Creative Memories Cap N Gown Collection
Fun Stamper's Journey Fusion Ink
(LOVE FSJ Inks.  They are a fusion between pigment and dye so they dry quickly and are water resistant!)

I added a little detail to the bottom edge of the card using the CM Border Maker System and the Scallop Dot Cartridge. I added a final touch on the inside with stickers from CM's Cap & Gown Collection.

The mats for these stickers show below were cut using my Brother ScanNCut Machine.

Brother ScanNCut!
The ScanNCut makes quick work of cutting out stamped, printed images and comes in really handy when you want to cut a mat around stickers like I did for the cards shown above.   The best part? You don’t need to be connected to a computer or the internet to do this.  The large scanning area is also great for scanning documents, photos, artwork etc. to a USB that can be easily transferred to your computer.  I still love my Silhouette for creating/cutting SVGs but the ScanNCut beats it hands down when it comes to print & cut (I could never get the PixScan mat/option to work consistently for me).

See how easy it is to use the Brother ScanNCut in the video below!

Congratulations to the Class of 2017!!

Summer Scrapbook Ideas You Can Use Now!

Welcome to Creative Life Scrapbooking's (CLS) Summer Blog Hop!
If you’re hopping in order, you’ve arrived from Karyn’s blog.  At the end of my post I’ll send you on your way to Julie’s blog. Be sure to visit each stop – there are lots of  wonderful ideas being shared!  (More info, including the complete list of Blog Hop stops, is at the bottom of this post.)
Today I’m sharing a layout using products from
Creative Memories and featuring the Made with Love Collection.
CLS Blog Hop - Summer Scrapbook Ideas You Can Use Now! Lisa's Workshop
This collection has lots of fun kitchen/recipe themed images but it’s versatile enough to use on everyday pages, too.  I think the page I created below would be perfect for generic summer photos – the colors are so fun and bright…cheerful!
CLS Blog Hop - Summer Scrapbook Ideas You Can Use Now! Lisa's Workshop
To make this layout, start with a piece of Black Cardstock for the base and add two strips of the green paper and one piece of the orange paper from the Made With Love Printed Paper Pack. (Click Here to take a look at the Made With Love Papers.) Punch two borders from Black Cardstock using the Border Maker System and the Scallop Dot Cartridge.  Add 3 4x6 pieces from the Made with Love Mat Pack as placeholders or mats for photos.
For the border at the top of the page, punch another strip about 2” wide from
White Cardstock using the Border Maker System and the Scallop Dot Cartridge. Using the Shape Maker System and the Square Cartridge, punch out 5 squares from the red gingham paper and 3 from the yellow paper, both from the Made With Love Printed Paper Pack. Cut these in half and cut one of the red gingham triangles in half again.
I didn’t measure the placement of the triangles –
I eyeballed it and the
Repositionable Tape Runner Refill came in very handy while putting this border together.  I was able to make adjustments easily without tearing the paper.  I positioned the yellow triangles first, and then placed the red gingham pieces on top of those,  starting at the end and overlapping the ends just a bit.  CLS Blog Hop - Summer Scrapbook Ideas You Can Use Now! Lisa's Workshop

Play with the placement until it looks right – I needed to cover up the black paper but if you cut your white strip wider you can eliminate this issue.  Snip of the edges (when you’re satisfied with your border)for the 2 pieces at the end of the border.CLS Blog Hop - Summer Scrapbook Ideas You Can Use Now! I finished the layout by adding a little extra detail using stickers from the  Made With Love Sticker Pack.CLS Blog Hop - Summer Scrapbook Ideas You Can Use Now! Lisa's Workshop

Outdoor Adventure

With Father's Day just around the corner, you'll want to give the special man in your life a gift that will warm his heart for years - the Outdoor Adventure Father's Day Bundle. For just $54, this bundle includes a one-of-a-kind 11x14 Pocket Album featuring beautiful foiled wild animals, the Adventure Mat Pack (a PREVIEW to the upcoming Adventure collection!) and a Brown Dual-Tip Pen.

The new Doily Border Punch is the perfect complement to the Made With Love collection! Make beautiful lace borders that are great for scrapbook layouts and endless projects and crafts.

The new CM is lean and mean – they keep the product line to a manageable size and that means quantities are limited.  The plan is always for tools to stick around for a few months but some go very quickly.  I predict this one will be a big hit – so if it’s something you’d like to own don’t hesitate and order it sooner than later.

Stamp-n-Storage on Lisa's Workshop

Look at this BEAUTIFUL, organized space!!!

Stamp-n-Storage on Lisa's Workshop

The photo above is not from my Workshop but it does show various organizers by Stamp-n-Storage in the Ikea Kallax/Expedit shelves.  I’ve shared a little bit about this wonderful company and their products in earlier blog posts because I think their products are fantastic!   They even have an organizer for the CM Border Maker System!!

The company’s Founder, Brett Haugen, is a self described “OCD mechanical engineer” who enjoys woodworking.  His wife, an avid paper crafter, was looking for better ways to organize her supplies. Storage space for her crafting was at a premium (sound familiar?), so Brett tried to make her the most space-efficient organizers that he possibly could.   Fast forward a few years and we have Stamp-n-Storage!

Stamp-n-Storage offers storage for many crafty things including:

  • Embellishments
  • Embossing Folders & Dies
  • Ink Pads, Markers & Refills
  • Paper
  • Paper Punches (Including the CM Border Maker System)

Stamp-n-Storage on Lisa's Workshop

Wall mount and Standard (desk/shelf) options are available for many organizers as well as items designed to work with Ikea shelves.

Stamp-n-Storage’s newest Punch Holder keeps all your Creative Memories Border Maker Punches together while allowing easy access. You can even store your entire Border Maker System with the Standard and Large Border Maker Punch Holders.

Another fantastic storage option are the Paper Crates - created for storing your papers in hanging file folders. The design was carefully engineered to make the Paper Crates easy to lift and stack in any order.  Stack'em, File'em, and Roll'em with the optional Rolling Base.  Paper Crates are available for both 12x12 and 8 1/2 x 11 paper!
