Summer Blog Hop with
Creative Life Scrapbooking
Welcome to Creative Life Scrapbooking's Summer Blog Hop!
Grab something cool to drink as we celebrate summer!
If you’re hopping in order, you’ve arrived from Julie’s blog. At the end of my post I’ll send you on your way to Candace’s blog. Be sure to visit each stop – there are lots of wonderful ideas being shared! (More info, including the complete list of Blog Hop stops, is at the bottom of this post.)
Today I’m sharing a layout using products from Creative Memories and featuring the Mix & Match Collection.
Designed to make creating beautiful, coordinated layouts a breeze, these mix and match scrapbook supplies feature designs inspired by florals, geometric patterns and ornate patterns in monochromatic color schemes. The collection consists of Paper Packs and Embellishments in pink, yellow, blue, green and orange. You’ll love it for practically any theme, from birthdays and kids’ albums to Easter, Mother’s Day, day-at-the-beach photos and more.
Have you noticed? Mermaids are everywhere!! I love them and thought the colors in the Mix & Match collection would be perfect to create a layout featuring one.
To make my mermaid I used some favorite CM tools including the Custom Cutting System (CCS) and the Border Maker System.
Mermaid tail – Double Heart Punch
Mermaid body – CCS Oval 6IB
Mermaid arms – CCS Circle 2IB
Mermaid head – CCS Circle 1IR
Mermaid hair – Border Maker System with the Lace Flower Chain Cartridge. Snip apart flowers and adhere as shown. I used some of the fun embellishments from the Mix & Match collection in her hair.
Mermaid shell bra –Border Maker System with the Lace Scallop Cartridge. (Also used this cartridge for the photo corners)
Mermaid eyes – Leftovers from using the Border Maker System and the Bubbles Cartridge.
I placed my mermaid on a rock cut using a CCS oval pattern and a piece from the Stone Paper Pack.
(If you are not familiar with the system used to label the CCS see this post.)
I used embellishments from the Mix & Match collection for seaweed & starfish. I snipped one of the petals off of a paper flower to make the starfish & added a little bling to the centers.
The waves were made using the Border Maker System and the Rolling Waves Cartridge.
The mermaid scale border at the top of the page was made by layering circles cut with the Custom Cutting System and the Circle Patterns (2IB ).
You could also repeat this technique on the mermaids body & tail using smaller circles.
Thanks for stopping by!
I hope these ideas have inspired you and I can’t wait to see your take on them! Please feel free to share what you’ve created in my Lisa’s Workshop Facebook group.
